A lots of changes again, I moved for few month to the USA, let my pc for a mac, changed my mouse for a tablet and a sketchbook, switched the agencies for teachers, the brazilian food for fastfood and put my self confidence to humble learning process !

First try in writing a comic is almost done. The story organically evolve and each time I leave the project (thx to lot of vfx work) some new item of the puzzle fit in and move the storyline into something more subtle. Here is one of the key characters of the first episode the crow. And a little frog monster doodle.

Marília ´Bombom´ Jardim e Raini Teichmann posed in a Sao Paulo Bar. Funny experience, even if we had no idea how long they will pose. Next day as I saw the pic on the daylight I found them quite different as I had think I had paint them under red lowlight. Thx for the girls and the book I receive as a gift.

I was saving some Matte painting under photoshop...its like clicking SAVE and wait 2 minutes ( If you don t know what s a Matte painting, I ll soon post some example in the VFX-blog.)...During this time I quickly did those little portrait of some Vetorzero coo-worker sitting arround me ! Tiago, Carlinha and Conan !

As I m struggling in an a gravitaional fiels that is so powerful that I can t realy find time to do nothing, or do the thing i could do if I had the time (Confusing )..When I m not working in my vfx job, I m working out building some other projects , and if I don t do that, I m with my happy-crazy-family and when I find really time late at night to sleep, I pass and sit studying to become one day something called an Artist (What a romantic idea ?!?!?!?). This time, I could catch some Light on paper during this Nude posing that we organized at work.
I wish I had more time to contrast more the image but...5 minutes on watercolor is short...The more you doddle around the worse the pic become. But I kind of liked that pose...so decided to post it !

I come back from work, today some massive crowd day and matte painting ...then give some of my energy to my family...finally around midnight time comes to study a little bit some painting for an exhibition project...Not very happy with it...so I write the changes on the painting and will get another try some coming days...To paint you really have to got a free mind...

Le modele assurais sur les poses courtes genre 1 minutes. Ensuite on est passe sur du 7 minutes, les poses sont moins dynamique mais j ai pu me lacher un peu sans trop peaufiner. Pbm de temps...l aquarelle ne seche pas assez vite... !!!

I m almost finished with the main story development of the comic novel "In the country of the Lionmens"...It s my first try ! I really have to say that I m using to work with Film and advertising (I m 3d artist) and this medium differ a lot. Yesterday I begun the visual research and approximate quickly to what I want...

I did a workshop with Renato Alarcao this weekend . Very rich in information and surely worse to expand your mind when searching to create something very organicaly ! I have based the whole theme from the title of a book: " In the country of the lion-mens"
Now I use this visuals as reactor to the whole story that I invent picking up some words from a book and filling the gap with my imagination... I m still writing the stuff and studing the fictiv diary in this africanimagination country !

This year drawing started with a new experience: SKETCHCRAWL, a worldwide marathon of artist amateur and pro that take one day to sketch arround. We where about 120 in Sao Paulo and I even get a picture on the news paper ehehehe ! It was a wonderfull adventure, first because you meet lots of people, share a passion and improve your life drawing sketches, second because I get away from the computer Maya, photoshop and all the 3d stuff that makes me sometimes feel like an autist.

I m still working on my homepage, La petite ruche, take some time to put the grafic together, think about the relationship between the pages etc...I think I ll end up again with full html site....Was thinking of using flash or ask somebody to programm but I ll make it simple just to be independent. So here a quick color-study I did for an other project of mine. Yes I ll put myself a challenge to make a comic book. So main of that work is putting ideas together on a sketchbook. Appetite for life - "l amour"

Appetite for life will be a series of sculpture about evolution of a woman during life. My goal is to traduce the State of her beeing through a pose. A voyeur looking at her without touching her. We are the man behind her, observing her history. Here is a study for l "amour" done in watercolor. I m still very skeptic about witch medium will be use for the final piece, bronze or a material I could add local colors....if anyone has a clue about how to do that, it be great help.

Encore un petit pirate...
The "petit pirate sans nom" found a gravitational turtle. You surely know there are just few of them who survived the catastrophic asteroid impact and so they are in danger of instinction like so much other animals. So founding this treasure he just had a baptistery with some pigment. Now the crew is growing...a rat, a pirate and a zen turtle.
I let my ink pen on the pic so you get an idea of the size !

So one more try for this pic. Still not the look i want, this time I changed paper to "Fabriano", much better. This sheet is about 60 cm high, so that was a big pbm to paint. Used Ecoline and Watercolor. Hope to get it right soon.

Character research for my first potential comic book. My new small`atelier` is very messy and lots of boxes, can t find nothing, not even time (smile), my chair is to low so I just put some 10 of my bigger books to be at desk level....this uncomfortable situation can be seen on the watercolor result, it s to heavy but the design intention is there even if I should be more xtreme on form !!! Will need to redoo it !

Tribute to the dude

This was the first try of a sculpey sculpture. I did a design for a project at work, but was rejected by the agency (maybe was to weird for them. Seems agency loved disney look and japanese simplifications). Whatever, I decided to transform the drawings into 3 dimensional caracter. To my conclusion, the drawings works better. (will post a original pic as soon I recover my defect Hard Drive. Yes imagine the digitaly drawings of the dude ended in a small Western Digital external hard drive and just kill all the data to a simple ERROR information. So, I wanted to finish the sculpture but when i did move out to the new appartment the guys who packed my stuff, just killed the dude. They put him right down into the box and then put some books, painting tubes and some more heavy stuff, closed the box and as I hopened it...the dude had lost some parts and was screaming for help. Seems this dude is digitaly, materialy and spiritualy destiny to die !

Workshop with CARCAMO

Hey volks,
With some friends we did a 4 day workshop with a Chilean guy called CARCAMO. Like most chilean people its a very friendly guy.
The first days you learn the very basic of how to make the simple things with watercolor (its like playing simple note on guitar). So stuff is how to make a gradient, a superposition of color, the wet to wet and dry painting things, the paper difference...
Until you get to the 2 last lessons where you begin to be on your own, well almost. Carcamo always has an eyes on your stuff and redirect yourself on each failure. He is a fast and patient teacher, You will be able in 4 days only to approach a painting technicaly. You will lose any fear so fast but learn also how hard and complex the watercolor can be, especialy simple things like controling the water, the pigment and the uniformity of the boss together. For me a must workshop here in SAO PAULO where Carcamo has his atelier.
Here is the last unfinished picture. Ending the workshop will be an 2 EXTRA day on live painting in the zoologic park.

For the technic I m testing color with ecoline watercolor on Montval Canson paper. Have to change back to Arches paper for the final picture, fits better to me.

Travel and sketching...Chile

2004 I decided to travel arround the world, taking my time and going from place to place enjoying the freedom of somebody without any home. On this trip I decided to do illustrations, something I had never done before ( I m a 3d grafist - so my job is great but I sitting for hours, days, years in front of a square lcd world). So, I bought a sketchbook and some watercolors and learned by doing.
This image was done in south of Chile. What you should notice is this HUGE giant squid who was left by the sea in front of my feets !

This image was done on night almost 2 years ago. It was my very first attempt to paint something in acrylic and was a disaster if term of technic and value, but for one reason I liked the result of le petit astronaute. Could be the spontenaous of the injected color ? I don t know. This first attempt to getting into painting was soon aborted by my second full time job: beeing a dad !
The illustrations are part of one project where I do the picture and some friends do the poems. You will soon see more of the series.

Sculpture study

Session 5 of sculpture. This is a 3 hours study made of argile. The main difficulties were to be aware not to loose the pose since the argile is very soft. On this model there s no squeleton.

My firsts experiences in the studio of Israel Kislansky. This is a quick study in "Argile ". Few minutes after done it we destroy it to get to an other pose. This new art for me and its just amaaaaazing !
